It all depends on the type of facial hair that you have. If you have dark thick hair then Laser is more effective and will show better results in the long term, if it's fine then IPL is better (you can find more info about it online, i tried it and it's the best!).

As for the pain factor never do it when you have your period cause it's too painful (tried it). And never go out in the sun after the treatment so your skin will 'calm down' after the procedure cause it absorbed too much heat.

Of course before the doctor performs the treatment he/she will have to do a patch test (ask for it!)
