no none of that is true. after you shave and the hair starts growing back at first you see the base or root of the hair, which is thicker. but if you let it grow out it would seem thinner again as more of the hair comes in

Those are actually the hairs that are going to turn white first because their starting to lose the dark brown/ black pigment color in them. I have them too.

You can always bleach them every 20 days . That way there are not noticable %26amp; blend with your skin colour. If You can afford you can go in for permanent removal like electrolysis also.Plucking them only makes them grow more strong.

Talk to your gyno - you may have too much testosterone. The hair growth is called hirsutism. You can take birth control pills - the estrogen will even you out. If you are already on them, ask for a bc pill without testosterone...like Yasmin or YAZ.

It all depends on the type of facial hair that you have. If you have dark thick hair then Laser is more effective and will show better results in the long term, if it's fine then IPL is better (you can find more info about it online, i tried it and it's the best!).

As for the pain factor never do it when you have your period cause it's too painful (tried it). And never go out in the sun after the treatment so your skin will 'calm down' after the procedure cause it absorbed too much heat.

Of course before the doctor performs the treatment he/she will have to do a patch test (ask for it!)

Nair would be a short solution or something like it. There are alot of products on the market that aren't harmful to the skin. However for lasting effects, I would suggest laser. It takes a bit, but the end result is off the chain!!! Just make sure you check references first. Hope this helps.

Okay. I am an expert at this. You have several options: bleaching your facial hair so it appears less noticeable, using a depilatory cream (they smell, sometimes irritate, and the hair will grow back), waxing (hurts, will come back in tiny stubbles in about 4-6 weeks, which in my opinion, looks way worse than have facial hair in the first place), electroylsis which is painful and an outdated technology, laser hair removal which can only be used one certain skin types and hair color, and final Intense Pulse Light. This is the new gold standard of hair removal. It takes only seconds, is pretty much painless, and after a series of 3-6 treatments (depending on how dense the hair is) will be gone forever! The only issue is that the hair must have some pigment, in other words it will not work on white or grey hair.

The good news is that price wars are now going on, and you can find someone to do this for less than it would cost to keep on waxing, creaming, or shaving. I recently wrote the content for a hair removal place located in Texas, where they offer low priced hair removal and the place is going gang busters. I do have hair on my face. The area that really bothers me is my chin, it comes in pretty much black in that location. I have a good amount there, and I used to just trim them back. I've been having electrolysis done instead, and it seems to be working really well. It costs around $25 for a half hour treatment. What is does is electrocute the hair follicle to kill it. It takes more than one treatment to be permanent, usually around 4-6 would probably be enough. The great thing is in between treatments I don't have those black hairs to worry about. It takes about 2 and a half, to 3 weeks for them to come back. I would look into this if I was you. Make sure you go to a reputable place and make sure they are clean (I've never heard of a place not being clean, but it's good to be safe). It's not exaclty comfortable to have it done, but I think the small amount of pain is worth it. Also you can look into laser hair removal. This is quite a bit more expensive, and you do have to go in and have touch ups done after the "permanent" removal. The good thing is it isn't done on each individual hair like electrolysis. These treatments range in price depending on the location on your body. I know the chin is $135 per treatment (yikes!) and they recommend 3 to 6 treatments. You also have to have pretty dark hair and fair skin for it to work. If i Were you I would NOT shave or it will come in very thick and dark after a while (did you see that Seinfeld episode?). You can try waxing and then using a hair retardent serum or product to slow down hair growth, make them finer when they grow back and through time and consistent use not have them come back. Okay, first you need to attach the false hair with sprit gum, not latex. You can build it on the actor's face using crepe hair, but since you are not experienced, I would not advise it. I suggest you go to a place that sells premade pieces of facial hair that are already ventilated on to lace. If you are in LA try Hollywood Toy or Cinema Secrets. Brush a thin layer of spirt gum on to the skin, let it get tacky, then gently lay the beard onto the gummed area. Only put the adhesive where the beard will be. Make sure you get around all the edges and use a thin layer. Too much will just make a mess and the beard won't stick well. When it comes time to remove the piece, use plenty of remover to break the adhesive bond. DON'T PULL! Be gentle. If it's still stuck, use more remover. A lace mounted piece can be cleaned in acetone and reused. Don't put acetone on the actor's face or on your hands! Wear gloves and work in a well ventilated area. Pour the acetone into a shallow glass dish that you don't use for food, put the piece lace side down in the acetone. A toothbrish helps to remove stubborn bits of spirit gum and makeup residue. Before you do any of this check with the actor and make sure that they aren't allergic to anything you are using. An excellent makeup reference is Richard Corson's "Stage Makeup."

NO! Never shave or trim facial hair, it will make it look darker and thicker (it doesn't actually GET darker or thicker despite common myth). She should wax it, then it will grow back lighter and look thinner. It will also take longer to grow back than if she just shaved/trimmed it. Be careful how you mention it though, she might be used to it being there and not pay attention to it, but if you go and buy her facial wax she might get really offended and worry about how she looks.

that is a myth....you can shave it , wax it, tweezer it , depilatory cream it, and it will not make it coarser or darker....the only thing that will make it grow back coarser or darker is a hormonal change in your body (some med's also make this happen)

Please make sure this is something she wants. You might really hurt her feelings. There are a lot of methods for getting rid of facial hair. You could try going to a nail salon that offers waxing to get a manicure %26amp; hopefully you'll see someone getting her upper lip waxed, it can be a bit painfull, but a Jamba Juice will solve that.

Also there are products like Nair for the face.

best option- laser hair removal... its even better than waxing. no pain what so ever and the hair takes forever to grow back. down side is it's really expensive

2nd best option- let her wax the hair off. many women do this even if the hair is just faint.

I know that most people will think "If this was possible, they would have figured it out by now." I think the governments wouldn't allow such inventions as it could lead a financial-blow to companies that create temporary hair-removal products.

I don't think the government is against stopping hair growth. It's not an industry like oil or tobacco where huge sums of money are involved.

Laser removal is pretty effective. Killing the follicle is the key, and it's quite possible...just costly and a slow/tedious process.

Electrolysis is not always permant for some people and can take 3 months and for some 3 years for all the hair to be permanently gone. Electrolysis is great for if you only have a small amount of hairs present.

Laser Hair removal is great for this area, but is expensive and can be painful. But you should see the results after only a couple of sessions.

I am just curious as to which treatment is the gentlest on the face, and causes finer hair to re-appear? I have heard that bleach strips the skin off! Is there any truth in this? I have bleached my face before-about once a month, and have had good effects, but im now worried about the effects of chemicals on my skin. But im scared to get it threaded in case I get loads of spots and redness and thicker re-growth.

Most procedures cause some reddening or irritation especially if you have sensitive skin. Always best to do a test patch several days before you want it done. Also undertake it at least 2 days before your night out to allow it to settle!!
