I have facial hair and have been dealing with it for years now i am going thru menopause?
I just saw an ad on TV for a new type of prescription medical cream that reduces facial hair by attacking the hair follicle root. I wish I could remember the name...Something like Vaniqua??? Ask your dermatologist. I often use OTC cream on my upper lip but was excited when I saw this ad. I think I might try it.

For more information on Vaniqa, see http://www.vaniqa.com/
Read a good dermatology article on Vaniqa at http://www.dermadoctor.com/pages/newslet...
For an FDA report on adverse effects of Vaniqa, see http://www.hairfacts.com/medpubs/topical...
The FDA has actually called Vaniqa "a pleasant surprise"; it is a topical (skin) version of a drug originally developed to treat African sleeping sickness. The FDA praises Vaniqa in this article http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2004/20...
I am going through menopause and have not yet had problems with facial hair. I may be one of the fortunate ones. Anyway, I believe in thoroughly researching any drug before discussing it with your physician. Good luck!

I have PCOS and am perimenopausal, so in a similar boat. I also tried the cream removers, but the hair has to be a certain length, and I wasn't going to do that again, and it burned as well.
Honestly, on the advice of other women, I just shave - with a good shaving cream and that's just it. Have just accepted it. No one else has to know. I lock the bathroom door, put on the fan, and run the water. Whacked out hormones are SO crappy!
