I'm sporting what some would call a "chin strap," a fairly thin line of facial hair that starts at my sideburns, extends along my jaw line, and meets at my chin. No moustache or beard or anything like that.
I'm fairly attatched to it, but should I shave it? I personally think it looks good and so does my girl... it seems to make my face look a little longer.
Do I have to wear a white dress shirt and tie, or can I go sporting nice khaki pants with a dressy striped button up shirt with no tie?

It depends on the jobs you're after. If it is a coporate banking job-- shave and wear a suit and tie. If it is a production internship with MTV-- you can wear what you like as long as you look nice. In general, employers like if you dress up. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have.

First off wear a shirt and tie. If this was a casual after 5p meeting then the latter would suffice. But always impress for your first meeting because everything takes flight from first impressions.
Also, cut the hair/chin strap. It may look nice but may be considered unprofessional looking. Suck it up and cut it. Once you have the job nailed down grow it back if there are no rules against such things.

you want to always look your best for an interview becasue the first thing that they look for is the apperance if you look scrappy looking then they automatically judge you so they pretend to be interested in you . always look them in the eye when they talk to you... and most of all always ask question and at the end of the interview say thank you for them taking the time to talk to you. trust me i took caree developement and thats what im majoring in so please take that into consideration and yes trimed facial hair is fine as long it dont look trashie good luck forward it back and let me know what happens
